Today is the day to announce the winners for the giveaway. I am happy to do so, with so many this names to pick this time! Again, I have used my unbiased Random Number Generator ~ 1) Thien Kim, 2) Merf, 3) Sue Walen, 4) Cathy Wegner, 5) Arlene - AlteredbyMe. Congratulations! Please email me with your mailing address and I'll send a book your way.
Thanks to everyone who entered. I didn't get as many comments/entries as I had hoped, but I do know that almost 2000 readers stopped by over the past week. I read blogs too and must admit I rarely comment. It's like reading a book or perhaps more appropriately, a magazine or newspaper...and how many of us write letters to the editor! I think blog writers want comments so that they know they're not talking to themselves, or in the case of some of the more deep, heartfelt posts, that what they say has meaning. I also think that different bloggers attract different types of people. I myself am quiet. Deep but quiet, and I think a lot of my readers are too.
Other bloggers are more chatty, some more lively, hence they get chatty & lively readers who are more likely to comment. And then there's the whole Blogger thing and how hard it is to comment on a Blogger blog. (Psst - Typepad is in my future.) It's all very interesting to me, this blog phenomenon. I love it. As someone who considers themselves a writer, it's the perfect venue for me to write in the little bit of time I can scrape together. The public forum makes me stop and take the time to actually write, something that, at this point in my life I probably wouldn't stop to do. And the very act of writing sometimes leads to some very good writing.

No giveaways this week, since I will be gone next week. I have one week at home after "camp" and then we are off to the beach for 2 weeks, so I guess there won't be any giveaways for a while. But I hope you will still stop by, enjoy the shade of the front porch, have a tall glass of iced tea. You're always welcome.

Lesley: went to QSDS last year and had a great time, and bought lots and lots of Els' fabric. Enjoy yourself, as you deserve it after the year you have had!
The book looks perfect. Isn't it amazing how something just jumps out at you when you're ready for it?
Lesley, enjoy, enjoy..create, create! I too have had the year go in a completely unplanned direction with family matters. Lots of grandboyo time too, lovely but exhausting for sure. A week of just you and "messing about" with paint, fabric and with like-minded people surrounding you..Bliss! a 4x student who loves your writing.
Lesley: Your porch looks very inviting, indeed. I want a porch. Right now I have a front "step" which could be a small porch if it had a roof. I sit there in the mornings because the house shades it in the mornings. I enjoy the birds and bugs and breeze, even when it's a bit warm, because I know the real HEAT is coming in just a couple of hours. Love your new book for your class. Have a good time.
sending you love and encouragement and support. the journal makes me pine for our adventure last year in nz/australia, dear one. know that i am thinking of you tonight and am there with you in spirit, propping our feet up, laughing, comparing notes, sharing thoughts. you are quite special indeed. xo
I'd be so excited 'as a kid going to camp' as well!
I'm from just north of Columbus and would love to go to "camp" someday.
Can't wait to hear your report. Love your journal you made!!
Lesley, I just finished reading "In This House" cover to cover last night. As a mixed media artist wanna be, I loved it. It was totally inspirational. Your "house" was fabulous. I loved the use of fabric and your poem. Thanks for the inspiration. I couldn't wait to get up this morning and stalk blogs of the artist. Thanks for sharing with us wanna be's!
Hi, Lesley
You've been such a good grandmother you really deserve to have a great time at camp and the beach. I'm really curious to see your new art direction. And it means that you haven't stopped growing. Good luck on finding lots of goodies for art!swwduj
I love reconstructing books and yours is wonderful! I'm dying to know about the gold works on the red fabric. Was that part of the original book cloth recycled or did you somehow get the gold lettering onto fabric. If it's the later, I'd love to know how you did it.
Dear Lesley,
From where I sit (shivering at my computer in Australia), your verandah looks mighty inviting!
I love your chairs! They look like comforting hands, ready to cradle weary travellers.
I hope you enjoy your 'camp', and look forward to seeing the journal fill up (ie those bits that you want to share).
Thank you for continuing to share your life with us through this wonderful blog!
Annie
So, I saw you working in Els class today! I'm in another dye class next door and recognized you right away! It's very hard not not walk over to you and ask you to autograph my books. You looked like you were enjoying yourself. I hope you are having a relaxing time in Columbus this week and hopefully you will come back to teach here, too. You have really earned the break this week.

Your porch looks mighty inviting... it's chilly here tonight. This time of the year I look forward to our days getting longer and warmer!
I enjoyed your thoughts about blogging. I recently had a discussion with someone about why we have blogs and the whole blogging craze. Enjoying your blog...
